(Almost) clutterless Linux Un//corporated, **OR** wormy trojanic Windows system? Definitely LINUX! Most apps (except LibreOffice -for me) survives system update w/o EVEN reset...

Windows: difficult Service Packs, „overlayed” reinstall causes SP needed to be reinstalled along, ALSO!!... that is, if not combined previously with install CD contents... in a next hard, timewaster, hack step...

Windows has very bad history, form DOS-based old kernels, to NT system audio service shit — and horrible Windows 7 audio latency lag (the audiodg process maybe causes it?!)?? Why next service in Control Panel, and even NEXT process in Task Manager, totals as +2, only to serve with sound card?!

Windows is more smartphonic (mainly for mere idiots), despite iOS existence

All Windows nowadays seem to be portable-compatible – that is, intended for BUSY, hard, hard work–NESS (in short: simply the business).

Instead, Linux preserves speed (there are various tricks to achieve it: Porteus .xzm/.sb squashfs modules; no System Registry, even gconf/dconf does is OK), more real user-friendliness (I mean mainly UN&&CORP., as in this blog entry title!)

•Speed varies of HD sync mount settings option, but LibreOffice from squashfs filesystem (functionality packed on one file, almost as archive!! but with easy mount possibility, with cloop) 

–of KNOPPIX distribution – runs speedily.

•No ActiveX, no registry.

Above I mentioned one trick to cope with daily Arch Linux experience.

You have program, or simple(r) command, the xcalib – for graphic card RGB color/contrast/luminance/gamma INSTANT (–with xbindkeys) switching (for example: whole screen turns to healthy-for-eyes green mode).

No need for Control Panel (more precisely, when you not use EAX sound-candy of Sound Blaster), similarly driver installing is a RARE process

•MIDI works normally, standard keyboard as MIDI keyboard, .sf2 also, both in drivers (needs spec. program) & sound player's Fauxdacious MIDI support

•Fauxdacious has APE (Monkey's Audio file format) BUG, which fast-forwards huge fragments of played file

•SATA works OK: quick hibernation, without additional (and slightly strange for me) Uli SATA/RAID driver.

•Screen resolution: xrandr command.

But compiz with hires requires NVIDIA driver installation. There is a BUG here, again.

With compiz you have all-in-one extra desktop features: zoom, applications' windows switchers, beautiful emerald & GTK Window Decorator border/caption theming.

•Strange incompatibility of compiz Wall+switcher plugin combo, with wmctrl command switch desktop functionality

Linux has powerful ability to not mark application executable+dynamic libraries as used – you can even install new version of system on RUNNING system, W/O SYSTEM RESTART!!

•BUT: close you LibreOffice instance. 

•You will need probably to recompile BOTH Compiz+ccsm. Most pacman installation experience has been NEGATIVE here.

•Generally, in Linux, you must observe program hierarchy & .so dynamic libraries conflicts, especially of the ICU library.

•For me, ffmpeg/AV libraries tend to be in incorrect version after updating. But there's mplayer also... .

You can even part an OS update process into several stages.

But it is definitely more advanced option. Before updating, generally, remember to free pacman/pikaur/pamac/pakku caches. Maybe also the snap/flatpak.

Linux remains command line-based, rather handy (colourful!) •fish interpreter, •roxterm – a good console emulator.

•When placing/editing long lines of text, I noticed ALL console emulators behave erratically.

Yea, this one was simple.

 But generally, in IT world we have bigger projects that must be (re)compiled (or linked dynamically), DUE TO *.SO libraries issues.

There is no „hot” alternative. I don’t want the difficult special scientific system distrubution — I prefer to, AS WITH the icu lib, to put *ALTERNATIVE* libs in its special folder – not in /etc/alternatives but in /usr/local/lib/ICUxx, for example. While the icu library is the most wide, heavy alternative (Libre Office tends to link version after version of icu!!!), the (re)compilation of application turns out to be solution (as it was with BibleTime, also).

Some time ago, I replaced Arch Linux packages with the manjaro repo – resulted, not instantly but after update+manually, QGIS started working.

Previously I run QGIS from chrooted Debian system (that is, the container – not the VM nor similar, but live ability to change root directory – the SO objects are linked from distribution file tree).

The rest (software) – better. But the installation of packages in Yast (Yet Another Setup Tool), Synaptic or even apt… BLOCKADE… that I CAN’T even install Blender 2.79 !!! AND … what this strange repository updating system means? Comparing to my present, a bit difficult (NV drivers to OpenCL support) but definitely OK Arch usage – a Debian system is worser generally, and the the trick here is that only Debian, when chrooted – script arch-chroot from Arch Linux is so universal! Not worrying /proc fs – the system mounts derivation) – it is convenient way provided disk free space), XScreenSaver works.

In history, I compiled compiz often by myself, now I simply*installed* it from chaotic AUR repo!

After tinkering with Xorg, the cursor-point displacement is gone. I still see NO TITLE TEXT IN COMPIZ Static window swicher plugin – Compiz version is

Tidying Desktop Environment … and Spirituality

Desktop platform must be clear, quick, n a t u r a l (look above), usable, experimentable. NOT MODERN. Particular dll-hell problems especially with ICU lib are resolved by simple, simple bash scripts:

Generally, Bash Scripts ‚re very handy when even rendering with blender. By making one script set, I „relocated” LuxCore rendering process into in-suite LuxCore UI – thus, resolving poroblem with OpenCL bad compilation (Blender 2.79, now 2.79…… special version with file close warning functionality added – so much time….)
– and, furthermore, the stalling error of Blender program interface between Lux. renderings & LuxCore animation frames. There still are some Blender Internal / OpenGL / even Cycles crash – remains unfixed still – but the main keypoint is: LuxCore Render is in multi usages, better.

Actualisations are important, even before driver reinstallation I have big buggy problem with Qt BibleTime GUI – so-called „magnifying” window content erased – and bibletime-git 2:v3.0_rc1.r1554.gdb625e1a6-1 compilation

I DEFINITELY excluded correlation with NVIDIA reinstall, and even nouveau swich – I do subsequent process after some timespan and …… returned to NV. PROPRIETARY driver, that turned to be best option ***.

And as you see, system actualisations are so important. And more, it are doable, provided time – you CAN find a time by dropping too much games / game addiction.

For me, IT turned out to BE POSSIBLE!

*** I made even script to swich between nvidia and nouveau – WINE requires it. Some part of it was manual process – nearly as simple as manipulating in visudo stuff.

The most difficult in Linux world are commands

– multi, multi commands. Almost every package contains it. LibreOffice, for example, for batch ->PDF conversion. Boot options and mkinitcpio „starter” archive managing. Video editing – KDEnlive not suffices alone for programmer’s perspective. Even system audio mixer is command-line-based! Despite you have GNOME (- ?) remake, the alsamixer is more keyboard-driven and more bugless – I mean that alsa mixer GUI long-time lack of functionality in saving/restoring ALSA audio mixer controls state.

When dll-hell problem with system app package [.so-objects] is not worth time, I use AppImage (KDevelop AppImage works fine on Arch Linux!)

Ha ha… some App Images actually WORKS. Some, for example for me – KDEnlive QT incompatibility *REMAINED* even when App Image mechanism consists of distributing .so objects in-app !!!!!

Part 2 – Clang compiler checked (pgrep – OK), actualization of system Clang package brought one error-fix instantly, main issue now (as moths ago...) remains CMake rules that are applied also to... 1 of static .a libraries: "LinuxCompile-master/target-64-sse2/lib/libboost_python310.a', needed by 'bin/luxcoredemo'.". Other details are on the video. *Factor of build processes is symlinking & copying of Py #include files from Blender-Python-compatible downgraded (by command downgrade without r letter on its name ending) Python version. Some flexibility here is available by using Arch Linux.

(Rule 1CPU1MB = fully local compilation, no strange MS Azure platform/env, no intranet nor etc. – budget solution and satisfaction from not giving money to pokemonny devel– – – opment).
